Amanda Kranich

Ceramic Artist, Painter, Teacher

My work concentrates on fluidity of form using the pottery wheel as a tool to create altered functional forms. Influences include florals, such as lilies and irises, along with arabesque patterns and shapes. Glazes are used to further enhance the manipulated form by layering and mixing allowing the tectonics of the glaze on the form to allow movement and enhance the vessel. I am fascinated by the play between two states in one material; how malleable and fluid the clay is when working with the material, then turns to stone once fired.

Amanda Kranich earned her BFA from Montclair State University. Since then has started ceramic education programs at private art centers, taught at private studios, camps, and academies, been studio assistant and manager of multiple studios (including Montclair State University), and produces and sells her own work at various gallery and craft shows.
